As with any Historic Monument Conisbrough Castle has attracted the interest of artists for quite some time.

This page contains thumbnail images of some of the work of those artists, simply click on the image to see a larger version of these works.

Please be aware that copyright may exist on some of these works.

The image on the left has been supplied by Mr Pete Day. The original was produced at some time around the early 1900s by Charles H Ashdown from St Albans and is one of a series of postcards titled "Castles in their Glory".

The image is a fanciful view of the Castle as in may have looked around 1190 and is probably rendered from a very quick and rough sketch as many of the main details are obviously in error, yet there are some that are not. If you are looking for an easy to understand interpretive image to compare to the remains of the Castle then this is it.
