Conisbrough Castle welcomes Education Group visitors from all over the Country. On average, (and depending upon the time of year), we receive between 30 and 200 plus, pupils and students per day, totalling nearly 12,000 per year with the majority visiting in the Spring and Summer terms. Many of the Education Groups visiting the site return year after year, bringing hundreds of pupils or students at a time, such is the popularity of Conisbrough Castle as an education resource. These pages are for the benefit of education establishments visiting the Castle as part of the field trip section of work outlined in the National Curriculum. We have a great deal to offer pupils and students studying any aspect of Medieval History. Our guides are second to none, and are all well versed in the art of conveying information to any age group or ability. We would like to invite the head of your history department, and any other interested members of your teaching staff to visit Conisbrough Castle, free of charge. You may then make your own decision regarding the worth of an education visit to the castle. Please read through the information linked from this page (using the buttons above). If you have any questions please email or telephone Conisbrough Castle on +44 (0)1709 863329, where you will find our staff more than happy to assist you. Among the resources available free of charge from this website are a set of Old Photographs of Conisbrough Castle, these can be used as a comparison tool for pupils, either in the classroom or on a visit. To help pupils to visualise what the Castle would have looked like in its hay-day, a number of Artists Impressions of Conisbrough Castle are also available, some of these images are also available as easy to photocopy monochrome images for use in work-sheets from our Useful Images section. Why not take a look at our Education Links page where you will find all sorts of useful stuff, and you will find the PDF document "Information for Teachers" useful and well worth downloading. We also provide a comprehensive Risk Assessment for Schools. We look forward to hearing from you soon, and anticipate working with you in the future. Please note that we operate a Bookings System at the Castle for all organised groups. Bookings should be made by contacting the Castle on 01709 863329. As you will appreciate we can quickly become "booked-up" at certain times of the year, therefore early booking is recommended in order to avoid disappointment. Once a telephone booking has been made we will assume that you intend to visit the Castle with a group, we will not book any other group into the time slot we have allocated to you. Should your plans change we would appreciate a call so that we can then allocate the time slot to another school group.
