Please be patient, it may take some time to down-load all of the photographs in our gallery.

This photograph of Conisbrough Castle was taken before the new roof and floors were installed.  It is taken from Low Road and shows the Memorial Park in the foreground.

The Conisbrough Castle Visitor Centre was opened in 1989.  It is a custom designed building which unusually has no foundations, the steel framework around it actually holds the building up.  The Visitor Centre is the first port of call for the thousands of people who visit the Castle each year, it contains a vast selection of historic information about the site as well as small classroom for school visitors.

Conisbrough Castle is open to the public all year round as this winter scene shows.

We even open the Castle at night for special guided tours and events.  This night-time shot was taken during the 1999 Halloween event and shows the splendour of the Castle Keep under flood lighting.

This aerial photograph was taken from a hot-air balloon, it clearly shows the extent of the surviving remains of the Castle, it also gives a good view of the new roof on the Keep.

This old Black and White photo shows the Castle ruins during the 1950s before the Castle's inner ward was cleared of almost 1 meter of soil which had accumulated over the last 500 years.

This scene was taken during the Castle's consolidation (making safe and sound) during the late 1940s.

Another view of Conisbrough Castle taken during the late 1940s.

This really old photograph was probably taken at some time around the turn of the Twentieth Century.  As you can see there is a hole through the wall which was patched up in the 1940s using stone from the top wall tower in the centre of this picture.

When visitors to Conisbrough Castle ask if the Keep has been re-built, we often refer to this photograph, it was taken at some time during the early Twentieth Century and clearly shows the condition of the Keep before any work was carried out on it.  If you compare it with the next shot you will be able to see for yourself what little has been done to restore this impressive building.

Taken at a slightly different angle to the photo above, but you can still play "Spot the Difference", there are not many.

Thank you for being so patient while these images down-loaded to your browser.  We hope that you think it was worth the wait.
