There are people out there who recreate almost every period in history from the stone-age to the nineteen seventies. One feature common to most re-enactors and re-enactment groups is the recreation of conflict (of which there have been many throughout history). At places like Conisbrough Castle, most re-enactment events tend to be Medieval in nature. The Medieval Period is said to have begun on the the 14th of October 1066 at the Battle of Hastings, and ended on the 22nd of August 1485 at the Battle of Bosworth Field, that's 419 years worth of murder, mayhem and conflict involving knights in various types of armour, swords, shields and a wide variety of other weapons that were all designed to inflict maximum damage... no wonder it is so popular. If you have been to Conisbrough Castle to see a re-enactment event and fancy getting involved or if you are a seasoned re-enactor we hope that you will find something of use and interest here on this page.
